Vietnam is an amazing country, well known for its spirituality, vast palette of natural beauties, impressive cultural heritage, colourful and warm people. Spirit Journeys is taking you to a special cycling tour-Cycling Remote North-East mountains of Vietnam in order to meet the stunning Northeast mountains of Vietnam. This tour will give you the insight into the natural highlights of this picture book part of Vietnam. But also, you’ll take a glimpse into the cultural and religious diversity of its people.

Let your roads twist through the mountains and take you to breathtaking landscapes. Enjoy the picturesque scenery of  Ban Gioc waterfalls, fertile valleys and fresh mountain atmosphere.

Pass the red river at Ha Hoa bridge, admire the biggest lake in the north – Thac Ba Lake. En route, dive into the charming terraced rice paddies, pebbled with a few houses, altogether creating a tranquil and poetic picture. Cruise through the fantastic rock formations at Halong Bay, feel the inner peace at the sight of its jade green water. This amazing experience is a pure energetic bomb. You’ll come back home refreshed, positive and ready to deal with everyday stressful routine.

Day 1: Arrive Hanoi (-/-/D)

Our tour guide will meet you at the airport and transfer to your hotel for check in. This afternoon, take a short test-ride through Hanoi. There will be a full trip briefing before dinner.

Day 2: Hanoi – Vu Linh (B/L/D)

Transfer around 2 hours out of city. Join the secondary route 313 up to Ha Hoa bridge to pass the red river. Keep cycling till the Lodge, right on the border of the biggest lake in the north – Thac Ba lake. Vehicle is available all the time. Overnight in Vu Linh

Note: The ecolodge Lavievulinh has hot shower, but there is no air-conditioning, simple facilities

Overnight: La Vie Vu Linh [Dormitory with breakfast]


Day 3: Vu Linh – Ba Be (B/L/D)

A long day is waiting for you. Start cycling directly from La Vie Vu Linh to Tuyen Quang through a nice and new tarmac road. Next, continue cycling towards Chiem Hoa direction, cruising on a scenic road towards Bang Lung. Rolling route with some uphill are expected. This area is home of a variety of minorities including the Tay, Red Dao, Coin Dao and White H’mong. Overnight in Ba Be

Day 4: Ba Be – Cao Bang (B/L/D)

Depart early from homestay. Take the route 257 to Bac Kan, then continue your trip to Phu Thong – Na Phac on national route 3. Cycle on a small and very quiet route with several manageable climbs and sweeping views across the mountains in the area of Nui Pia Oac nature reserve. Take a picnic lunch on route. Overnight in Cao Bang

Day 5: Cao Bang – Ban Gioc Waterfalls – Cao Bang (B/L/D)

Take the route up to the famous Ban Gioc waterfalls, located on the border between Vietnam and China in the province of Cao Bang. En route to Ban Gioc Waterfall, enjoy the impressive view at many terraced rice paddies dotted with some houses creating a peaceful and poetic landscape. Have a picnic lunch overlooking the waterfalls, then transfer back Cao Bang. Overnight in Cao Bang

Day 6: Cao Bang – Lang Son (B/L/D)

Today, cycle from Cao Bang on route 4A towards That Khe, along three mountain pass and Dong Khe. Enjoy the beautiful scenery of forested mountain ranges, lush fertile valleys and traditional minority villages. The road weaves and twists through the mountains. Most downhill is en route from Dong Khe to Lang Son. Overnight in Lang Son

Overnight: Muong Thanh [Superior room with breakfast]


Day 7: Lang Son – Halong (B/L/D)

Take the quieter old Highway 1 towards Hanoi until you reach the new road. Transfer 4-5 hours to Halong for your overnight stay. Overnight in Halong.

Day 8: Halong Bay (B/L/D)

This morning, you will be free at leisure until it’s time to transfer and check-in for your cruise. After a warm welcome aboard, enjoy lunch while cruising towards the stunning Halong Bay. In the afternoon, enjoy some visits and/or activities (depending on each boat’s itinerary) or just spend some time relaxing on board. Towards the end of the day, the boat sets anchor for the night among the karst formations. Dinner is served on board. Overnight on Halong Bay.

Day 9: Halong Bay - Hanoi (B/-/-)

Enjoy fresh morning in the middle of the bay as the sun rises on Halong. Have a breakfast  while the vessels cruises slowly through the magnificent rock formations and back towards port. Disembark and transfer back to Hanoi. Overnight in Hanoi

Note: This tour to Halong bay depends on the weather conditions.

Day 10: Depart Hanoi (B/-/-)

Spend your time at leisure until it’s time to transfer to the airport for your onward international flight.
